Dhū al-Qaʿdah

Dhu'l-Qa'dah is the first of the four sacred months (Al-Ashhur Al-Hurum). The other three are Dhul-Hijjah, Muharram and Rajab.

The name Dhul Qa'dah could be translated as the month of sitting, or settlement, as it is prohibited to fight during this month. It allowed for pilgrims to journey safely towards Makkah in preparation for the month of pilgrimage.
